Boldly claiming cures for all manner of ailments, posters are an old time favorite tool for marketers to get their messages out. The mixture of bright colors and punchy slogans capture the public's attention in advertisements for devices, treatments and questionable cures as well as for a variety of public health campaigns. The Philadelphia Museum of Art houses a one-of-a-kind collection of these posters from days gone by in its Ars Medica Collection, as the museum's Curator of Prints John Ittman explains in this video interview.
