For the first time, a nurse practitioner has been elected as a fellow of the oldest medical society in the country. Sandra Festa Ryan, MSN, CPNP, FAANP, chief nurse practitioner for Walgreens Take Care Health Systems, has been elected to the Fellowship of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia (CPP). Ryan (shown at left with Tine Hansen-Turton, cofounder of the Convenient Care Association) was a founding officer of Take Care Health Systems and a founding board member of the Convenient Care Association.
The CPP was founded in 1787, and its purpose is to advance healthcare and honor the heritage of medicine. Participation in the fellowship includes invitations to programs and lectures at the college on a broad range of healthcare topics.
"From my personal standpoint, this is another way to be at the table with other driven, highly motivated thought leaders in healthcare to improve healthcare collaboratively," Ryan said.
