Michigan Bill Introduced to Define APRN Scope of Practice

Michigan Senate Bill 481, a bill amending the definition of APRN to include nurse practitioner, nurse midwife and clinical nurse specialist, has been introduced. The proposed bill would also allow the Board of Nursing to grant an APRN license to Michigan practitioners, include APRNs to the list of licensed providers able to prescribe independently, and allow APRNs to prescribe physical and speech therapy. At the time of press in mid-June, there were no hearings scheduled for the bill.
