Cherokee Comfort NP Award Winner

A nurse practitioner was awarded a prize in the 2009 Cherokee Inspired Comfort Awards. Recipients represent a variety of healthcare professionals, from hospital employees and visiting nurses to dental hygienists and nurse anesthetists. Each one was chosen for exemplary service and care to those in need.
Grand prize winner in the advanced practice nurse category is Diana Webber, NP, from Hope Medical Clinic in Atoka, Okla. With precious few medical resources available for the uninsured among 3,000 local residents, Webber began methodically assessing her community's health needs. Her interviews and data revealed a need for free healthcare in the community, and she realized that her experience and expertise could be the difference between families getting necessary primary care and or going without. With the support of her community, Webber founded the Hope Medical Clinic.
In addition to researching, opening and operating the clinic and working 3 days a week in a pediatric clinic located 130 miles from home, Webber provided clinical expertise on medical missions in 2008 to Mexico, Peru, Ecuador and Nicaragua.
"The award is a tremendous honor. However, I truly believe it is an award earned by the team of volunteers who staff Hope Medical Clinic and many other free clinics, by the dedicated people who arrange medical trips to third-world countries and by the many other nurses who selflessly invest their talents in areas where needed most," said Webber. "I appreciate the efforts of Cherokee Uniforms to acknowledge and reward nurses for doing what we do best: put hands and feet to caring for others."
