Course Title and Materials
CKD: New Guidelines (41)
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major public health problem that is increasing in incidence and prevalence and is associated with poor outcomes and high costs. Six of every 10 Americans will develop kidney disease. CKD now affects more than 11% of the U.S. population and is a major contributor to morbidity and mortality. In 2013, 26 million U.S. adults had advanced CKD, and Medicare expenses for CKD in stages 2 through 4 exceeded $48 billion. It is time for patients and providers alike to develop a heightened awareness of CKD. Early detection and management of CKD can often delay progression.
